With over 24 years of industry expertise, Malek has held key leadership positions in renowned organizations across the healthcare sector. Previously, he was CEO of Byrne Medical, a GCC-focused leasing company specializing in medical equipment. He also served as Healthcare Operating Partner at Qatar First Bank and held various roles at GE Healthcare, including General Manager of Diagnostic Cardiology for the Middle East, Africa, and beyond. In addition to his corporate roles, Malek is actively engaged in academia and advisory roles. He serves as a board member for prestigious universities such as the American University of Sharjah and Khalifa University, and holds advisory positions for organizations including the Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions in Saudi Arabia and the IFC/World Bank. A sought-after speaker, Malek has chaired and addressed conferences worldwide on topics ranging from hospital design to healthcare investment strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Lebanese University and a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, with additional coursework completed at McGill University.
