A proven leader and a seasoned expert, with over 3 decades of experience in both private and public sectors, and with national and global financial institutions. Alain was appointed Director General of the Ministry of Finance in 2000, a position he served until 2020. He received the United Nations award for improving tax services’ transparency, and he was named Commandeur de l’Ordre du Cèdre (Lebanon) and Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (France) for his relentless reform efforts and his fight against corruption. Alain was also the alternate governor at the World Bank, EBRD and the Arab Funds. He chaired the G24 for three terms and successfully led Lebanon’s bid to join EBRD. The author of many critical laws, he reconstructed Lebanon’s financial accounts. He is the author of the internationally hailed Lebanon’s recovery plan. Alain is the founder of the Citizen Foundation, and SCPA Conseil, and a member of the Trilateral Commission.
