Adib Y. Tohme is an international tax and corporate lawyer, an economist, a writer, an entrepreneur, and a professor and lecturer of law and economics at prestigious worldwide universities, including Harvard, Cornell, and Sciences Po. He is the founder and partner of D&T Law Firm, a New York boutique law firm which focuses on corporate finance, compliance and digital law. He is also the founder and partner of Citizen L, a Beirut based law firm, and Citizen Management and Consultancy, a management consultancy and investment firm with offices in Dubai. From 2009 until 2015, Adib also served as the founder and partner of the Levant legal Practice (LLP), a Riyadh-based legal company, which has also an office in Doha, and he continues to be involved in initial public offerings as well as Web3 investments in the Saudi market. Adib Tohme has more than 30 years of experience in international business law and taxation. Since 1994, he has been licensed to practice in Beirut and New York. After his graduation from Harvard Law School in 1993, he was appointed as a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University where he concentrated on Mergers & Acquisitions. He then worked on all aspects of start-up financing and international taxation and corporate restructuring in New York, Europe, and the MENA region and helped many companies raise funds or go public. He has been involved in the crypto finance industry since 2017, when he helped to introduce an initial coin offering (ICO) in the US, Malta, the UK, and Estonia. His duties included transaction structuring, corporate governance and compliance, preparing ICO documentation (White Papers etc.) as well as managing negotiations with regulators. He was also involved in several international lawsuits around ICO fraud and intellectual property issues. He has been actively engaged in all facets of cryptocurrencies and other digital assets since 2017. He has met with researchers, practitioners, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers in finance, fintech, and cryptocurrency around the world, advising on all aspects of the industry, from mapping and identifying of the regulatory framework and key players, including jurisdictional issues in the online environment, to providing guidance on government regulation of cryptocurrencies, tokenization, and token offerings. He has been recently involved in a multibillion investment deal to develop a crypto mining infrastructure in Abu Dhabi as well as applying for a VA exchange and custody license in ADGM for a global company. He works with investors and family offices on restructuring, reorganization, valuation, identification, and monitoring of their holdings and investments around the world. Adib Tohme has worked as a UNCTAD advisor and the dean of La Sagesse University's School of Anglo-Saxon Law.
